According to the petition, there is credible information suggesting that Hazrat Ali may attempt to flee the country to avoid legal proceedings
A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Mohammad Hazrat Ali, a retired chief engineer of the Power Development Board (PDB), amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of illegal wealth accumulation.
The order was issued today (7 July) by Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court, following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), confirmed Mohammad Akhtarul Islam, ACC's deputy director and public relations officer.
The petition was filed by ACC Deputy Director Nazmul Islam, who requested the travel restriction, citing that Hazrat Ali is under investigation for acquiring illicit wealth through extensive corruption and irregularities.
According to the petition, there is credible information suggesting that Hazrat Ali may attempt to flee the country to avoid legal proceedings. Therefore, preventing his departure is essential to ensure a proper and uninterrupted investigation, the ACC argued.
The court accepted the petition and ordered that Hazrat Ali be barred from leaving the country until further notice.
