Court orders travel ban on ex-BFF vice-president Salam Murshedy, wife amid corruption probe
According to ACC, former Khulna-4 MP Md Abdus Salam Murshedy and others acquired illegal wealth worth crores of taka through various irregularities and corruption.
A Dhaka court has barred former MP and former Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) vice-president Salam Murshedy and his wife, Sharmin Salam, from leaving the country amid an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez issued the order today (8 February) following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), court Bench Assistant Md Riaz Hossain confirmed.
ACC Assistant Director Sajjad Hossain filed the application seeking a travel ban on the couple.
According to the application, allegations have been made against former Khulna-4 MP Md Abdus Salam Murshedy and others of acquiring illegal wealth worth crores of taka through various irregularities and corruption.
The application also stated that the allegations are currently under investigation.
It claimed that, based on information from secret sources, those involved were attempting to leave the country and flee abroad.
The ACC argued that restricting their travel was necessary to ensure a proper investigation.
