Ex-Bangladesh high commissioner Saida Muna, husband and 2 sons barred from leaving country

A Dhaka court has barred former Bangladesh high commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem, her husband and their two sons from leaving the country over allegations of corruption and money laundering.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir passed the order yesterday (22 September) following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The other three are husband Tauhidul Islam Chowdhury, chairman of Generation Next Fashions Ltd, and their sons Alavi Azfar Chowdhury and Javed Opgen Hepen, according to the ACC application.

ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Jahangir Alam sought the travel ban in a petition, saying allegations that the four had embezzled around Tk2,000 crore in bank loans and laundered the money abroad were under investigation.
In its application, ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam said the commission had received information that the individuals could leave the country and evade the investigation.
The commission therefore sought the travel ban to ensure a proper investigation into the allegations, according to the petition.
The ACC began investigating allegations of embezzlement and money laundering involving Saida Muna and Tauhidul in June 2025.
