Protests at DU and BUET in solidarity with KUET students

Students of BUET and Dhaka University on Tuesday held separate protest rallies in solidarity with the movement of the students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).

Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology brought out a protest march from the Shaheed Minar of BUET at 1pm.

The procession passed through Polashi, Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University, the road beside the Central Shaheed Minar before ending at Raju Sculpture point.

BUET student Al Farabi said, "BUET students express full solidarity with all the logical demands of KUET students. On behalf of the general students of BUET, we strongly demand that KUET students' demands be accepted quickly and that arrangements be made for them to break their hunger strike. At the same time, the real culprits should be brought under the law swiftly."

He called on the interim government to take proper steps to ensure the safety of KUET students and to restore a suitable educational environment.

Meanwhile, a group of Dhaka University students also held a protest rally in solidarity with KUET. At 3:30 PM, they brought out a procession from the VC Chattar. They demanded the resignation of KUET's vice chancellor.

Earlier, in a press release, BUET students stated they would change their FB profile pictures in solidarity with KUET students. Later, many BUET students were seen changing their profile pictures with hashtags such as #BUETiansStandWithKUETians and #StandWithKUET.
