BUET launches ‘Eye Camp 2025’ for teachers and students
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has launched a five-day Eye Camp 2025 to promote awareness and access to preventive eye care among its teachers and students. The camp was formally inaugurated on Saturday, 19 April at the university's DELL Cafe by BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman.
The initiative is being conducted by the Directorate of Student Welfare (DSW) and will continue daily from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm until 23 April. Around 800 registered participants are expected to receive eye examinations, consultations, and treatment guidance from specialist doctors throughout the week.
The camp is sponsored and technically supported by Bangladesh Eye Hospital, with PDL serving as co-sponsor and CloudApper AI providing IT assistance.
Speaking at the event, Professor Dr A K M Masud, Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare, shared that the initiative reflects BUET's commitment to ensuring the well-being of its campus community. The eye camp aims to foster a culture of proactive health care by encouraging regular check-ups and awareness about common eye conditions.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr Abu Hena Abid Zafar, Chief Medical Officer at BUET Medical Centre; Dr Fadia Farah Anannya, Eye Specialist from Bangladesh Eye Hospital; and other senior university officials.
Organisers expressed hope that the initiative will contribute to early diagnosis and prevention of eye-related issues, thereby supporting academic and personal well-being for both students and faculty members.
