Buet's Prof Haseeb appointed first VC of Dhaka Central University
His tenure as VC will be four years from the date of joining.
Prof ASM Abdul Haseeb of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor (VC) of the newly formed Dhaka Central University (DCU) for seven government colleges in the capital.
The announcement came in a gazette notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.
He has been appointed to the post under Section 11(1) of the "Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026."
According to the conditions mentioned in the notification, his tenure as VC will be four years from the date of joining.
The notification, signed by Assistant Secretary Md Shah Alom Siraj, said that as the chief executive officer of the university, he will remain present on the campus at all times.
The president and chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary, it added.
