Buet, Sust teams win CSE Carnival contests
Teams from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology clinched the top honours at the CSE Carnival 2026, underscoring the institutions' dominance in competitive coding and innovation.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology organised the two-day carnival in collaboration with bKash Limited, according to a press release.
The event featured an inter-university programming contest and hackathon, highlighting technical expertise, analytical skills and innovation-driven problem-solving.

A total of 120 teams from 80 public and private universities participated in the programming contest, while 50 teams showcased practical solutions during the hackathon.
In the programming contest, the "Silver Hawks" from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology emerged as champions. Another team from the same university, "Supernova", finished as first runner-up, while "Jyotichashi" from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology took second runner-up.
The top 20 programming teams received awards at the closing ceremony.
In the hackathon, "GNG" from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology claimed the championship. "Nexus" of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology became first runner-up, while "Arekta Team", comprising students from three universities, secured second runner-up.
Alongside the competitions, the carnival featured sessions on financial technology, artificial intelligence, innovation, digital finance and technology careers.
Academics, technology professionals and senior engineers from bKash Limited's Product and Technology Division shared industry knowledge and professional experience with participants.
Member of the University Grants Commission Professor Dr Abdullah Al Mamun attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and presented prizes to the winning teams.
Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Professor Dr Md Khairul Islam; Chief Product and Technology Officer of bKash Limited, Azmal Huda; Professor Dr Mohammad Kaykobad of BRAC University; and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Dr Md Forhad Rabbi, also attended.
bKash Limited said the partnership formed part of its campus-based talent development initiatives. The company also runs programmes such as bTechWhiz, bnext and bHive to help students develop professional and technical skills.
