Edu secy transferred to public administration ministry after removal

Senior Secretary Siddiq Zobair, who was appointed on contract, has been removed from his post at the Secondary and Higher Education Division and attached to the public administration ministry.

The move came after a group of protesters demonstrated in front of the secretariat yesterday (22 July), demanding the resignation of the education adviser and the education secretary. 

The public administration ministry issued a notification in this regard today (23 July) afternoon.

Earlier on yesterday, Mahfuz Alam, the adviser to the information and broadcasting ministry, posted on his verified Facebook page that Siddiq Zobair had been removed from his post as Senior Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.

According to sources at the ministry, the proposal to withdraw Siddiq Zobair was sent to the chief adviser for approval late yesterday night. After receiving the approval, the order was issued following the president's assent.

Yesterday's demonstration in front of the secretariat escalated when a group of protesters forced their way into the secretariat premises at around 3:45pm. Soon, clashes erupted between the demonstrators and law enforcement personnel. Sound grenades and tear gas shells were fired during the confrontation.
