118 officials promoted as additional secretary
At present, there are 285 additional secretaries. With the promotion of 118 more officials, the total number has risen to 403.
The interim government has promoted 118 joint secretaries and officials of equivalent rank to the post of additional secretary.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard tonight (27 January).
Following standard practice, the promoted officials have been made Officers on Special Duty (OSD) at the Ministry of Public Administration.
According to the notification, if any officer's posting has changed since the workplace mentioned in the promotion order, they must submit a joining letter mentioning the name and address of their current office. The joining letter must be submitted to the public administration secretary, either directly or via email.
The notification also states that if any adverse or contradictory information emerges later against any promoted official, the order may be amended or cancelled as necessary.
At present, there are 285 additional secretaries. With the promotion of 118 more officials, the total number has risen to 403.
However, as there are only 212 permanent posts of additional secretary, most of the newly promoted officials will have to continue working in their previous positions in an in-situ capacity, officials of the ministry said.
