Cucsu polls: 28 nomination papers collected on first day
The Cucsu and Hall Union elections are scheduled to be held on 12 October

The distribution of nomination papers for the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) and hall union elections began today (14 September).
According to the election commission, a total of 28 nomination papers were collected today — 26 for the central students' union and two for the hall unions.
Confirming the matter after the day's distribution, Cucsu Chief Election Commissioner Prof Monir Uddin said, "We are witnessing great enthusiasm among the students. Participation has already exceeded our expectations."
Among those who collected nomination papers are: seven for the vice-president post, two for general secretary (GS), two for assistant general secretary (AGS), one for office secretary, two for sports secretary and assistant secretary, two for career development and international affairs secretary, one for science and ICT secretary, one for women's affairs secretary, one for social welfare and environment secretary, two for literature and cultural secretary and assistant secretary, two for communication and accommodation secretary, one for liberation war and democratic movements secretary, and two for executive member posts.
Additionally, one nomination paper was collected each from Sir AF Rahman Hall and Bijoy 24 Hall.
The distribution of nomination papers will continue until Tuesday (16 September), while candidates must submit them by 17 September.
The Cucsu and Hall Union elections are scheduled to be held on 12 October. The last edition took place in 1990, making this the first election at Chittagong University in 35 years.
