BNP's Sa Ching Prue wins Bandarban seat

BNP candidate Sa Ching Prue Jerry has secured landslide victory in the Bandarban constituency, defeating his nearest rival by a massive margin of over 1.15 lakh votes.
According to unofficial results announced by Election Commission's Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ara Rini late last night (12 February), Jerry bagged 1,41,455 votes with the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol.
His closest competitor, Abu Sayeed Md Suja Uddin of the National Citizen Party (NCP), polled 26,162 votes.
For the hill district, the referendum results at this seat deviated from the reported national trend.
A total of 90,156 voters cast a "No" vote against the July Charter, while 71,717 voters opted for "Yes".
The election across the seven upazilas of the district was notably peaceful, with no reports of untoward incidents throughout the day.
Bandarban, the lone parliamentary seat in the district, has a total of 186 polling centres, alongside one postal ballot centre.
