Crimes against humanity: Another complaint filed with ICT against Hasina, 15 others

A complaint was filed with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (7 January) accusing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 15 others of committing crimes against humanity in connection with the deaths during protests against Indian aggression following the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh in 2021.
The complaint was submitted by Md Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, on behalf of Shafiqul Islam Mufti, father of Asadullah Ratin, 17, who was killed during the protests.
Speaking to journalist, Akhtar Hossain said, "The then government in 2021 fired indiscriminately at the people who were demonstrating against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh, injuring and killing many innocents.

"We have filed charges against 16, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, then home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former lawmaker RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury," he added.
Akhtar also said many unarmed civilians were gunned down in Chattogram, Brahmanbaria and Dhaka.
He further said, "Seventeen people were killed as per the government statistics. The government also took many steps to deprive the injure victims of justice and proper treatment.
"Around 54 cases were filed against seven thousand people in Brahmanbaria and we came here today to lodge complaints over those crimes."
