Zubaida leaves for Dhaka to take Khaleda Zia to London
Meanwhile, BNP Media Cell member Shaiul Kabir Khan has said that the departure of Khaleda Zia to London may be delayed due to technical issues with the special Qatari air ambulance
Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman, has left London for Dhaka and is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Friday morning (5 December).
Upon arrival, she is expected to accompany her ailing mother-in-law, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, back to London for advanced medical treatment, confirmed Atiqur Rahman Rumman, a member of the BNP Media Cell.
He said, "Dr Zubaida Rahman will land at Dhaka airport at 9:35am on Friday. We will receive her at the airport. She will return to London with her ailing mother-in-law, Khaleda Zia."
Atiqur said Zubaida Rahman is scheduled to fly from London around 6pm local time by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
However, the flight was delayed by 45 minutes and is now expected to land in Dhaka after 10am.
Once in Dhaka, Atiqur said Zubaida will travel back to London in the Qatar air ambulance with the BNP chairperson.
Meanwhile, BNP Media Cell member Shaiul Kabir Khan has said that the departure of Khaleda Zia to London may be delayed due to technical issues with the special Qatari air ambulance.
Earlier today, Tarique's Adviser, Mahdi Amin, said Dr Zubaida Rahman may arrive in Dhaka on Friday morning to accompany BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London for advanced medical treatment.
In a Facebook post, Mahdi stated that although Khaleda Zia has shown some improvement, a decision has been made to admit her to a specialised hospital in London to ensure the most advanced and modern treatment.
Dr Zubaida Rahman has been coordinating the entire medical process from London, he added.
Mahdi wrote that Dr Zubaida is attempting to leave London today and arrive in Dhaka tomorrow morning. She is expected to personally accompany Khaleda Zia on a Qatari air ambulance equipped with advanced medical facilities.
However, he mentioned that alternative arrangements are in place depending on flight schedules and circumstances. If the air ambulance departs before Dr Zubaida's arrival, London-based specialist Dr Richard Bill, who is already in Dhaka, along with Khaleda Zia's daughter-in-law Sharmila Rahman, several doctors, and officials will accompany the BNP chief on the flight.
Mahdi further said that Tarique Rahman himself is overseeing all aspects of the ongoing process, including regular briefings with the medical board, direct communication with specialised hospitals and physicians in London, preparations of the Qatari air ambulance, and the travel and logistical arrangements.
