Bank Asia wins global SDG Award for advancing inclusive, sustainable banking
The bank was honoured across five categories — Inclusive Banking and Social Impact, Economic Growth and Empowerment, Digital Transformation and Technological Innovation, Climate Finance, and Customer Education

In a world where financial institutions are being increasingly called upon to go beyond profit and contribute to social and environmental progress, Bank Asia PLC has won the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) SDG Award 2025, earning global recognition for its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The bank was honoured across five categories — Inclusive Banking and Social Impact, Economic Growth and Empowerment, Digital Transformation and Technological Innovation, Climate Finance, and Customer Education — for its commitment to sustainability and inclusive growth.
The accolade was presented to Romo Rouf Chowdhury, chairman of Bank Asia PLC, by Peter Simon, chief executive officer of the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI), at a ceremony held in Washington DC, on 15 October 2025. Mohammad Ziaul Hasan Molla, deputy managing director and head of Channel Banking at Bank Asia, also attended the event.
Bank Asia's recognition follows its participation in the WSBI-ESBG SDG Data Survey 2025 and the WSBI-ESBG SDG Awards, initiatives that spotlight member banks demonstrating leadership in sustainability, inclusivity, and social progress within the global financial sector.
"This recognition reaffirms Bank Asia's dedication to fostering sustainable development and creating meaningful, positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through innovative and inclusive banking practices," the institution said in a press release.
