Wealth statements: What interim govt advisers say they own
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has declared total assets of Tk 15.62 crore as of 30 June 2025.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus's total assets increased by Tk1.61 crore in one year, while the wealth of his wife, Afrozi Yunus, declined by Tk84 lakh, according to official disclosures published today.
Financial disclosures reveal that while Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin holds the highest net worth among the advisers, Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan recorded the largest wealth growth over the last year. Conversely, Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan saw her asset valuation decline by over Tk1 crore.
The Cabinet Division left the asset disclosures for Ali Riaz and Lutfey Siddiqui, both special assistants to the chief adviser, blank. It was clarified that Riaz only joined in an advisory capacity on 13 November, and Lutfey Siddiqui does not draw any official perks or facilities from the state.

While National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman's domestic assets are valued at Tk22 lakh, his offshore wealth is significantly higher, totalling more than $4.6 million.
The asset statements, released by the Cabinet Division, detail the financial and non-financial assets, foreign holdings, total wealth and liabilities of government advisers and persons of equivalent rank, as declared in their income tax returns for the 2023-24 and subsequent fiscal years. No detailed breakdown of individual assets, however, was provided.
Commenting on the matter, TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman told TBS that while the eventual publication is important, the timing is regrettable.
He noted that disclosing the information proactively, as originally promised, would have set a powerful example and earned public acclaim. By waiting until faced with criticism, Iftekharuzzaman argued, the administration lost the chance to create a truly positive legacy.
"The nation expects the next government to avoid such lapses," he said. "By voluntarily disclosing and annually updating the assets of the cabinet, MPs of the 13th Parliament, and all public officials from the outset, they could set a standard that surpasses the interim government's efforts."
Md Maidul Islam, former director general of the ACC, noted: "While there was a declaration for advisers to submit asset disclosures, a standardised format was never established. What has been released lacks the substance of a formal asset statement; it merely lists total sums without distinguishing between movable and immovable property or detailing non-financial assets."
He added: "Unlike the rigorous formats used by the ACC to ensure financial clarity, the absence of a structured template here has significantly curtailed any possibility of independent verification."
According to official disclosures, the chief adviser's total assets rose to Tk15.62 crore in June 2025, up from Tk14.01 crore the previous year. His financial portfolio grew by nearly Tk1.6 crore, reaching Tk14.76 crore, while non-financial assets remained relatively stable at just over Tk21 lakh. Furthermore, his assets held abroad increased slightly to Tk64.73 lakh.
The Cabinet Division noted that the rise in Yunus's total assets was driven by the encashment of savings instruments, higher balances in savings and fixed-term accounts, and inherited shares.
Afrozi Yunus's total assets declined by Tk84 lakh over the past year, falling to Tk1.27 crore in June 2025. This drop is attributed to her financial assets plummeting from over Tk95 lakh to just Tk4.5 lakh, though her non-financial assets saw a modest gain. Unlike her husband, who is debt-free, Afrozi holds personal and business liabilities totalling Tk16.96 lakh as of June 2025.
Financial disclosures show that Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin's net worth rose to Tk91.65 crore as of June 2025. This reflects an annual growth of approximately Tk54 lakh in his total asset valuation.
Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed's assets grew to Tk7.16 crore as he settled his remaining Tk84,000 debt. In contrast, his wife Parveen Ahmed's wealth grew by Tk74 lakh to reach Tk5.38 crore, though her liabilities also expanded significantly, totalling Tk3.12 crore by June 2025.
Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud's assets grew by over Tk1.1 crore, reaching Tk16.22 crore by June 2025. Official disclosures attribute this increase to bank deposit profits and income from a real estate developer agreement.
Law Adviser Asif Nazrul's assets increased by Tk12 lakh to reach Tk1.60 crore in 2025, a growth surpassed by his wife, Shila Ahmed, whose wealth rose by Tk43 lakh to a total of Tk2.44 crore. All of Shila's disclosed wealth is held in the form of financial assets.
Adilur Rahman Khan led the advisers in wealth growth, more than doubling his assets to Tk2.53 crore in 2025. The spike is primarily attributed to inherited property, which pushed his non-financial asset valuation to Tk1.42 crore.
His wife, Saira Rahman Khan, also saw her wealth increase by Tk64 lakh, reaching a total of Tk5.83 crore.
The net worth of Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan halved over the last year, dropping to Tk1.12 crore without any disclosed explanation.
Conversely, while her husband Abu Bakar Siddique's wealth remained stagnant, he saw a significant improvement in his financial position by settling over Tk1.25 crore in liabilities, reducing his total debt to under Tk7 lakh.
The total assets of Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, grew to Tk5.83 crore in 2025, up from Tk4.46 crore the previous year. This Tk1.37 crore appreciation is attributed entirely to his financial portfolio.
Official disclosures show a divergence in the financial profiles of Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and his wife, Nusrat Imrose Tisha.
While Farooki's assets dipped to Tk2.15 crore, Tisha's wealth surged to Tk2.99 crore. This spike in her valuation, however, coincides with the emergence of a Tk1 crore liability, a significant shift from her debt-free status in 2024.
National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman's local wealth was limited to Tk22 lakh in financial assets, up from Tk20 lakh in 2024.
In stark contrast, his international assets are valued at over $4.63 million, a figure that includes real estate and other fixed property abroad. According to his statement, the value of these overseas holdings has remained the same over the past year.
