West Indies whitewash Bangladesh with record chase at Warner Park

West Indies achieved a remarkable six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the third and final ODI at Warner Park, St. Kitts, completing a 3-0 series whitewash. Debutant Amir Jangoo's unbeaten century led the home side to successfully chase down 321, the highest total ever chased at the venue. Gudakesh Motie sealed the win in style with a six off Rishad Hossain, with four overs to spare.

Jangoo remained not out on 104 off just 83 balls, while Motie provided a match-winning 44 off 31 during an unbroken 91-run stand off 53 deliveries. Their efforts highlighted West Indies' resilience after a rocky start to the chase.

The Windies faced an early setback, losing Brandon King to a run-out before Nasum Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud struck to remove Alick Athanze and Shai Hope cheaply. At 15 for 3, the chase looked improbable.

However, Kacey Carty steadied the innings with two vital partnerships. He added 55 runs with Sherfane Rutherford before forming a brilliant 132-run stand with Jangoo. Carty dazzled with his stroke play but fell agonisingly short of a century, scoring 95 before Soumya Sarkar's brilliant catch off Rishad Hossain's bowling ended his innings, leaving the Windies at 218 for 4 in the 34th over.

Despite the dismissal of Roston Chase for 12, Jangoo and Motie turned the game around. The duo plundered 17 runs off Hasan Mahmud in the 42nd over, bringing the required rate below six runs per over. Jangoo brought up his maiden ODI century in 80 deliveries and, alongside Motie, guided the hosts to an emphatic victory.

Earlier, Bangladesh faltered early after being sent in to bat. Openers Tamzid Hasan Tamim and Liton Das were dismissed for ducks, leaving the visitors struggling at 2 for 9.

Stand-in skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Soumya Sarkar led a brilliant recovery, adding 136 runs for the third wicket off 129 deliveries. Soumya scored a fluent 73 off 73 balls before being trapped leg-before by Gudakesh Motie. Miraz followed shortly after, run out for 77, as Bangladesh stumbled to 171 for 5.

The recovery came courtesy of Mahmudullah Riyad and Jaker Ali, who compiled an unbroken 150-run stand to power the Tigers to 321 for 5. Mahmudullah smashed an unbeaten 84 off 63 deliveries, while Jaker contributed 62 off 57, giving Bangladesh a competitive total.

Despite a valiant effort from Bangladesh, the Windies showcased their depth and determination to secure the series whitewash. Jangoo's debut ton and Motie's all-round contribution ensured an unforgettable finish to the series.
