Bangladesh suffer home whitewash after four years
Having already lost the first two matches, Bangladesh had surrendered the series to West Indies.
Bangladesh struck early when Alik Athanaze was dismissed while defending a modest total of 151. But the early spark in the hosts' camp faded as time went on. West Indies recovered through Roston Chase and Akeem Auguste to seal a comfortable victory. The visitors won the final T20 by seven wickets against Liton Das's side.
Having already lost the first two matches, Bangladesh had surrendered the series to West Indies. To avoid a whitewash, they needed a win in the final game — but it wasn't to be. The Tigers couldn't find consolation in the last match either, suffering a home-series whitewash in this format after four years. The last such instance came in 2021, when Bangladesh were swept by Pakistan on home soil.
Chase and Auguste shared a 91-run stand for the fourth wicket. Chase, who scored 50 off 29 balls, was bowled by Rishad Hossain, who also dismissed Auguste in the same over. Despite the double strike, West Indies remained untroubled, already within touching distance of victory.
Ameer Jangoo contributed 34 runs off 23 balls. After Athanaze's early dismissal at six runs, Jangoo and Brandon King steadied the innings. King was out for eight, while Jangoo stayed a bit longer before departing with the team score on 52 — the third wicket to fall for West Indies.
Chase and Auguste then guided their side home. Rishad Hossain took three wickets for Bangladesh, conceding 43 runs in four overs. Shak Mehedi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and batted first, but apart from Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Saif Hassan, none of the others could withstand the West Indian bowling attack. The pair added 112 runs together. Tamim top-scored with 89 off 62 balls, hitting nine fours and four sixes, while Saif made 23. No other Bangladeshi batter reached double figures. Shepherd gave away 36 runs and was close to a hat-trick, while Holder and Pierre took two wickets each.
