Tanzid Hasan Tamim, one of the players who won the U-19 World Cup with Bangladesh has revealed he now wants to win the ODI World Cup.

Along with him, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain and Shoriful Islam are all part of the Bangladesh squad announced for the Asia Cup, which begins later this month.

With the tournament happening so close to the World Cup in India, the Asia Cup squad could be the same one that goes to ICC's premier ODI event as well.

Tamim spoke to the media after the team's closed-door training session at Mirpur's Sher-E-Bangla Cricket Stadium was over.

There he elaborated that all four U19 World Cup-winning members in the Asia Cup squad have the same goal - to win the World Cup this year.

"What we achieved with the U19 team is now in the past. We now regularly discuss among ourselves about winning the ODI World Cup. We are playing in the Asia Cup next but in the back of our minds, the aim is to win the World Cup. Hopefully, if things go in our favour, we could win the big one."

With former ODI captain Tamim Iqbal coming out of retirement and looking to work his way back into full fitness, the younger Tamim knows that there will be pressure on him to perform in order for him to keep his place but he's not too flustered by it.

"We play cricket professionally so there is always pressure. There are different situations in the game and it's down to how fast we handle those moments. The quicker we can adjust to different situations, the better our chances of success,"  the 22-year-old explained.

A lot of people find shades of Tamim Iqbal in Tanzid Hasan Tamim's batting and a few days ago former national team cricketer Khaled Mahmud also echoed that sentiment.

The younger Tamim finds inspiration from the senior Tamim and speaks about how he "grew up watching Tamim's batting".

"I found inspiration watching his batting as we have the same name. As a result, I watched his batting a bit more. He's an idol for us all. I tried to learn a lot from watching him; how he controls everything, and how he plays in different situations. We I meet him, we speak about everything," Tamim concluded.
