A Faridpur court today (17 September) sentenced former president of Faridpur's Bhanga Upazila Chhatra League, Lutfor Molla to 17 years imprisonment in an arms case he was arrested for in 2019.

Faridpur District and Session Judge Court justice (Special Tribunal-2) Ashok Kumar Dutta passed the order, the court's lawyer Shah Md Abu Jafar told The Business Standard.

"The accused was present in court and was later sent to jail under police custody," he added.

According to court sources, on 14 January 2019, District Detective Branch arrested Lutfor Molla with a foreign pistol and two rounds of ammo in front of a shoe shop in Bhanga Bazar.

Following the matter, Superintendent of Police Md Jewel Mia filed an arms case with Bhanga Police Station.

Later, the police submitted a charge sheet to the court after a long investigation.
