Public Prosecutor of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury told The Business Standard, "The charges brought against the accused by the state have been proved."

According to case dockets, on 8 May 2019, flight BG-148 from Dubai landed at Chattogram's Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport around 7:30am. At that time, 24 gold bars with an estimated market value of Tk1.2 crore were recovered from the bag of the Chinese citizen. The same day , Shahariar Hossain, assistant revenue officer of the airport Customs House filed a case with Patenga Police Station as the plaintiff.

In September 2019, Patenga police filed a charge sheet in court with Fan Rong Gui as the sole accused. A complaint was framed against him on 8 February 2021. The testimony of nine people was presented by the state in court.

The convicted accused was present in court for the verdict from where he was sent to jail.
