Dhaka South City Corporation mayor, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, directed its regional executive officers to closely monitor mosquito control, and closed sewer cleaning drives, at the field level.

He gave the instructions at a meeting with all regional executive officers and heads of  departments of Dhaka South on a Zoom platform on Wednesday.

Tapas said, "During the operation of mobile courts to curb the mosquito menace, we noticed that Aedes mosquito larvae were almost everywhere in the city. The matter needs to be closely monitored. You must ensure that our activities are not hampered in any way. "

Instructing the regional executive officers to supervise the closed sewer cleaning drives, mayor Taposh said, "We are cleaning the closed sewerage lines through some contractors. You have to visit the worksites and closely monitor whether they are cleaning the waste properly or not."

The mayor said, "We need to continue our infrastructure development work as usual. We have to cooperate with the contractors so they can complete their work on time as per the corporation's orders. A good deal of these public works are done, taking water logging or the monsoon season into account. "

"We are working on a combination of waste management and infrastructure development so that we can keep Dhaka South free from water logging during the upcoming monsoon season," he said.

Rezaur Rahman, chief engineer of the corporation, Akramuzzaman, secretary, and the heads of various departments including regional executive officers attended the virtual meeting moderated by ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, CEO of DSCC.
