The International Crimes Tribunal-2 may deliver its verdict any day in a case against Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif in a case over the killing of six people in Kushtia during the July Uprising, as both the prosecution and defence concluded their arguments today (10 June).
The three other accused are Kushtia district Awami League President and former Zila Parishad chairman Sadruddin Khan, district Awami League General Secretary Azgar Ali, and Kushtia city Awami League General Secretary Ataur Rahman Ata.
All four accused are absconding.
Earlier, the tribunal formally received the charges on 6 October last year and simultaneously issued arrest warrants.
The prosecution had submitted the formal charges against them, which included three specific allegations: making incendiary statements, conspiracy, and the killing of six people in Kushtia.
During the July Uprising, there was open fire on students and the public at various locations in Kushtia.
Following these incidents, a case was filed against the four accused at the International Crimes Tribunal.
