International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) prosecutor Md Hasanul Banna has resigned from his post, citing illness.
Confirming the matter today (19 August), prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told reporters that Banna submitted his resignation letter to the chief prosecutor, seeking release from his responsibilities on health grounds.
"The chief prosecutor approved the request and forwarded it to the ministry," he added.
According to Tamim, Banna has long been suffering from jaundice and liver-related complications. Shortly after his appointment, his illness was diagnosed, and he has been on leave since then.
Banna, a lawyer of Rajshahi Judge Court, was appointed as an ICT prosecutor on 1 January this year.
