Bangladesh Bank investigates 'compromising video of BFIU head'
The Bangladesh Bank has launched an investigation into a "compromising video" circulating online, allegedly involving the head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), said Governor Ahsan H Mansur today (18 August).
"We are investigating the matter," the governor told The Business Standard.
Asked about claims linking BFIU Head AFM Shahinul Islam to the video, the governor said, "We are investigating if there is any truth to the allegations. Unquestionably, this is a sensitive position that you have to recognise."

Contacted for comment, Shahinul dismissed the reports, saying, "These are AI-generated fake news intended for harassment. Nothing else."
