Syndicates, extortion gripping every sector of the country: Jamaat ameer

Syndicates and extortion networks are operating rampantly across all sectors of the country, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman alleged today (24 July).
"A party that cannot free its own members from extortion and land grabbing cannot be trusted with the safety of the nation," he made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and prayer gathering in Sylhet Shilpakala Academy.
The district metropolitan Jamaat organised the event in memory of the martyrs and injured of the July uprising.
Criticising the government, the Jamaat chief said, "The government has failed to provide proper medical support to those injured in the uprising and has also neglected the families of the martyrs."
"If we come to power, we will first ensure medical treatment for the injured July warriors and stand beside the families," he added.
He also reaffirmed his party's commitment to building a corruption-free Bangladesh. "One war has been fought against fascism. Now, another war must begin — this time against corruption," Shafiqur said.
Calling for reforms and justice, he urged the government to take the necessary steps to hold the national election by early next year.
Members of martyr families and injured protesters also addressed the gathering and shared their experiences.
