BUTEX welcomes 51st batch

The 51st batch freshers' reception of Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) was held with a strong call for students to devote themselves more to textile-related education and research in order to strengthen the foundation of Bangladesh's future economy. On this occasion, the entire campus of the country's only textile university was vibrant with the presence of both new and senior students.
Speakers at the event highlighted the university's legacy and stressed that in order to maintain Bangladesh's top position in exports and to expand market share in the global arena, BUTEX must continue to lead in producing highly skilled human resources for the textile industry.
The event's chief guest, Siddiqur Zobair, Senior Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, urged students to focus sincerely on education and research. He noted that as a developing country, there may be a gap between demand and supply for students' needs. He emphasised resolving any student-related issues through discussion with teachers and stakeholders.
The ceremony was presided over by BUTEX Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Engineer Md Zulhas Uddin. Special guests included Engineer Ehsanul Karim Kaiser, Convener of the Institute of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET); Engineer Mahiuddin Ahmed Selim, Chairman of the Textile Division of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB); and Engineer Abdus Sobhan CIP, Managing Director of Oeko-Tex Group.
