MoU signed between NSDA and National University to strengthen skills

In a significant move towards bridging the gap between education and employability, the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) and the National University (NU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at 11:00 AM at the NSDA conference room in Dhaka.
The Mou aims to foster cooperation in skills training, professional development, and strengthening industry-academia connections for students enrolled in colleges affiliated with the National University.
Professor Dr A S M Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University, and Nasreen Afroz, Executive Chairman (Secretary) of the NSDA, signed the agreement. Mr M Siraj Uddin Miah, Chief Secretary to the Chief Adviser, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Also present were Professor Dr Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Professor Dr S.M. Abdur Razzak, Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), and Professor Dr A.B.M. Obaidul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University.
Professor Dr A S M Amanullah stated at the ceremony, "The National University accounts for 70% of the country's higher education. Hence, we are responsible for transforming a significant portion of the unemployed into a skilled workforce. While graduates from neighbouring countries enter the global job market with respectable wages, our graduates often work abroad at lower pay due to a lack of skills. We are working relentlessly to change this reality."
Chief Secretary M Siraj Uddin Miah emphasised the vital role of public universities in building a skilled workforce, noting, "Institutions like the National University, BUET, RUET, and the Open University are instrumental in producing human capital capable of contributing to both national and global economies."
The signing of this MoU marks a collaborative step forward in aligning higher education with the nation's evolving workforce demands.
