The Dhaka Motor Show is known to be one of the most anticipated automotive events for petrolheads every year. This year, with the 18th iteration of the country's largest automobile exhibition, the hype was no different.
From 1 May to 3 May, CEMS-Global USA organised the Dhaka Motor Show 2025 under the Auto Series of Exhibitions 2025 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB). The event brought all the latest and most anticipated vehicles of the year that are officially available in Bangladesh under one roof.
The three-day long event had a wide variety of cars showcased at Hall-1 and Hall-3, from various Japanese, Malaysian, Indian and Korean automakers, although it was the Chinese ones which ultimately stood out the most. For this issue of Wheels, we bring together five cars which absolutely stole the show.
MG Cyberster
The MG Cyberster marks a bold return to MG's roadster roots, reimagined for the electric age.
With its iconic scissor doors opened, the yellow unit displayed at the event left people awestruck. Everyone, from kids to adults, took the opportunity to take a photo with this special MG that was launched to mark the 100th anniversary of the automaker.
Design-wise, the Cyberster is a visual stunner. Its long hood, scissor doors, and wide stance give it a distinctly exotic appeal, while the sleek LED lighting and Kammback tail echo futuristic aesthetics. Inside, it features a driver-focused cockpit with a wraparound digital display and minimalistic design, blending retro cues with high-tech sophistication.
The bells and whistles are not just limited to the outside. It packs dual electric motors that deliver up to a staggering 536 hp, allowing a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.2 seconds. A 77 kWh battery ensures a range of around 500 km, combining performance with practicality.

GAC E9 PHEV

The GAC E9 PHEV is China's answer to the premium MPV game. In a segment often ruled by the Japanese Alphards and Velfires, the E9 is a breath of fresh innovation with the muscle to back it up.
At the Dhaka Motor Show, the sheer presence of the E9 turned heads. Its imposing front grille, sleek matrix LED headlights, and stately proportions gave it the aura of a luxury lounge on wheels. The shiny chrome panels and electric sliding doors added just the right touch of elegance to its family-first form.
Inside, the cabin is a plush sanctuary with captain's chairs in the second row that recline, massage, and even ventilate. A full digital cockpit, panoramic sunroof, and active noise cancellation ensure every journey feels first-class.

Suzuki Jimny 5-door

Brought in by Uttara Motors, the 6th generation India-built Suzuki Jimny stays true to its DNA: boxy, rugged, and unapologetically old-school in a world of soft crossovers.
Yes, it's longer and more practical than the iconic 3-door, but don't mistake it for a cushy urban SUV. The Jimny 5-door still rides on a ladder-frame chassis, retains its solid axles, and comes equipped with Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system with low-range gearing — meaning it's just as capable off-road as its shorter sibling.
From the outside, it's instantly recognisable: round headlamps, upright windshield, and chunky wheel arches give it a no-nonsense, ready-for-anything attitude. Inside, it is functional with modern essentials like a touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and ample headroom all around.
Under the hood is a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, producing 103 hp — not fast, but plenty for trails and terrain.

Mitsubishi Xpander

The Mitsubishi Xpander has long been a favourite for families and ride-share drivers alike. Now, it's manufactured right here in Bangladesh by Rancon Auto Industries Limited (RAIL). This marks a significant milestone for the local automotive sector, signaling a shift from import dependence to domestic manufacturing.
The quality remains solid, just as one would expect from a Japanese brand with decades of reliability behind it. The Xpander features Mitsubishi's signature Dynamic Shield grille paired to angular headlights, and sculpted body lines that make it look more adventurous than your average people carrier.
Step inside, and you are greeted by a spacious cabin that seats seven comfortably. The layout is practical, with foldable rear seats, a clean dashboard design, and creature comforts like a touchscreen infotainment system, rear AC vents, and ample storage. It's the kind of cabin that works just as well for family road trips as it does for daily school runs.
Under the hood, it's powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine making 104 hp and 141 Nm, paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. It is smooth, efficient, and built for urban versatility.
