Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir has condemned the "attack on ordinary students" at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) today (18 February).

In a joint statement, Shibir President Zahidul Islam and Secretary General Nurul Islam Saddam urged the authorities concerned to take effective measures to bring those involved in the attack to justice quickly and ensure strict punishment.

"To thwart the opportunity to create a new positive trend in student politics after the mass uprising, a party has once again started the politics of occupation and terror on campus. They have assumed the role of the banned Chhatra League. We strongly condemn and protest their heinous attack on students," reads the statement.

30 injured in clashes between KUET students, JCD over demand to ban student politics

"We have noticed that a student organisation is constantly attacking ordinary students and trying to blame the Chhatra Shibir in the style of the banned Chhatra League. We are surprised and deeply concerned by such incidents. We demand a judicial investigation into this incident," adds the statement.

Earlier in the day, at least 30 people were injured as a clash erupted between KUET students and Jatiotabadi Chatradal members at the campus area over the demand to ban student politics on campus.
