Remittance inflow hits 8-month low in June, record $35.56b received in FY26
Despite the decline in June, total remittance inflows for FY2025-26 rose 17.3% year-on-year.

Bangladesh's monthly remittance inflow fell to an eight-month low in June, even as the country posted a record $35.56 billion in remittance receipts for FY2025-26, according to Bangladesh Bank.
Expatriates sent home $2.80 billion in June, marking the first time in six months that monthly remittance inflows fell below the $3 billion mark, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and Executive Director Arief Hossain Khan confirmed today (1 July).
Despite the decline in June, total remittance inflows for FY2025-26 rose 17.3% year-on-year to a record $35.56 billion, compared with $30.33 billion received in the previous fiscal year.
In FY2024-25, Bangladesh received around $30.04 billion in remittances, representing a 25.5% increase over the preceding fiscal year.
Central bank officials noted that on the final day of the fiscal year (30 June), the country pulled in $120 million in provisional remittance earnings. However, this single-day figure excludes data from 11 commercial banks due to the bank holiday.
Meanwhile, monthly remittance inflows for June 2026 stood at $2.80 billion, reflecting a minor 0.6% dip compared to the $2.82 billion recorded during the same month last year (June 2025).
Despite the marginal monthly decline in June, the overall annual trend remained extraordinarily strong throughout the fiscal year, providing a critical buffer to the country's foreign exchange reserves and macroeconomic stability.
