Bashundhara Group stands by families of 3 Covid-19 victim journalists
Sayem Sobhan Anvir, managing director of the group, handed over cheques worth Tk15 lakh to the families
Bashundhara Group, one of the leading business conglomerates in the country, has extended an aid of Tk15 lakh to the families of three journalists who died from Covid-19 infection, reads a press release.
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir handed over three cheques, each worth Tk5 lakh, to the families on Sunday, it says.
The three journalists who died for Covid-19 infections are Humayun Kabir Khokon, city editor of Somoyer Alo; Mahmudul Hakim Apu, senior sub editor of Somoyer Alo; and Aslam Rahman, crime reporter of Bhorer Kagoj.

Humayun Kabir Khokon's wife Sharmin Sultana Rina, Mahmudul Hakim Apu's wife Arifa Sultana and Aslam Rahman's wife Fatema Rahman received the support at Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-2 in the capital.
Expressing gratitude to Bashundhara Group, Sharmin Sultana Rina said that the family was really grateful to the company for the financial support in this situation.
Among others, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam and Kaler Katnho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan were present at the event.
Briefing journalists, News24 Chief Executive Naem Nizam said Bashundhara Group again proved that the company was beside the people.
"Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir extended support to the families of coronavirus victim journalists on humanitarian ground," he added.
Kaler Katnho Editor Imdadul Hoq Milan, also a noted writer, mentioned that Bashundhara Group showed its excellence by standing beside people as well as by contributing for society.
Earlier, Bashundhara Group donated Tk100 million to the Prime Minister's relief fund to battle Covid-19, and also constructed country's largest hospital for coronavirus patient at ICCB, a trade centre of the conglomerate in the capital.
