Mob culture will not be tolerated anymore: Salahuddin
"There may be demands, but they must be raised through proper procedures."
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has warned that incidents of "mob action" will not be tolerated in the country under any circumstances.
Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat today (18 February), he said, "Mob culture is over in Bangladesh. It cannot be incited in any way. There may be demands, but they must be raised through proper procedures."
"Processions and rallies can be held, democratic culture will continue, but highways cannot be blocked to press demands. Mob culture in the name of realising demands will not be tolerated," he said
Regarding the police force, the home minister said, "When people think of the ministry, they think of the police. The police must become friends of the people. The image that was damaged in the past must be restored."
Emphasising a zero-tolerance stance on corruption within the ministry, Salahuddin said, "We must build a totally corruption-free ministry, ensuring accountability and transparency for all. If anyone within the force is found involved in criminal activities, immediate action will be taken following an investigation."
