The Detective Branch of police has arrested a youth, who had been accused of killing a woman by shooting her on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, along with the revolver which is suspected to be the murder weapon.

DB officials arrested accused Touhid Sheikh Tonmoy from Bhola's Ilsha area early today (2 December), confirmed Officer In-charge of DB Ishtiaque Rasel.

Based on Touhid's statement, DB officials recovered the revolver from a pond in South Keraniganj of Dhaka today morning, added Md Ishtiaque Rasel.

Ishtiaque said DB is trying to recover the items looted from the deceased based on information obtained from Touhid.

The accused has confessed about killing Shahida Islam during primary interrogation. He lives at Wari in the capital, said the OC.

Earlier, a case was filed over Shahida's murder who was shot dead on Saturday (30 November) on the service lane Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj's Sreenagar.

Jorina Khatun, the mother of the victim, had filed the case against Touhid with Sreenagar police station yesterday (1 December), said Kaiyum Uddin Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of the station.

Shahida hailed from Mymensingh's Begunbari Bazar area.
