False rape case proved: Court orders arrest of 5, including plaintiff and teachers
The order was passed on yesterday (27 January) by Judge Muha Rakibul Islam of the Barishal Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
A court has issued arrest warrants against five people, including the plaintiff and three teachers, for filing a fabricated case over an alleged attempted rape.
The order was passed on yesterday (27 January) by Judge Muha Rakibul Islam of the Barishal Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
Confirming the matter, tribunal bench assistant Ajibur Rahman said the case was originally filed on 6 May 2024, accusing a teacher of Halima Khatun Girls' Secondary School in Barishal of attempting to rape a student inside a classroom. However, an investigation by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) found no evidence supporting the allegation.
Following the probe, the accused teacher filed a counter-case with the tribunal, seeking legal remedy for harassment. After investigating the complaint, Barishal Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Upoma Farisa submitted a charge sheet to the court on 28 December 2025, accusing five individuals of filing a false case.
Taking cognisance of the charge sheet, the tribunal issued arrest warrants against the accused.
Those named are Sekendar Ali, the plaintiff in the false rape case; Mostafizur Rahman Faisal, former school managing committee president; SM Fakruzzaman, former headmaster; Nazma Begum, acting headmistress; and teacher Sheikh Jebunnesa.
