2 arrested over RAB member killing in Jungle Salimpur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7 has arrested an accused and one of his associates in connection with the killing of a RAB member during an operation in Jungle Salimpur of Chattogram.
The arrests were made in separate drives conducted in the Khulshi and Bayezid Bostami areas of the city on 25 and 26 January, said Assistant Police Superintendent AR M Mozaffor Hossain, assistant director (media) of RAB-7, in a press release this morning (27 January).
The incident took place on 19 January, when RAB personnel came under attack while conducting an operation to arrest armed criminals in the Jungle Salimpur area. Four RAB members were injured and taken to Chattogram Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where one of them was declared dead by on-duty doctors. The remaining three are undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, RAB-7 filed a case with Sitakunda Police Station on 22 January, naming 29 accused and 150 to 200 unidentified individuals. The case was filed under multiple sections of the Penal Code, including charges of murder, attempted murder, assault on law enforcers, extortion, abduction, and vandalism.
As part of the investigation, RAB-7 arrested Md Mizan, a listed accused in the case, from the Ispahani Mor area under Khulshi Police Station at around 5:55pm on 25 January.
In a separate operation early on 26 January, RAB arrested Md Mamun, described as an associate in the case, from the Bogura Nibash area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station.
RAB said the two arrestees have been handed over to Sitakunda police for further legal proceedings.
Earlier, on 23 January, three accused were arrested in Chattogram. The following day, another accused, Ali Raj, was arrested from Cox's Bazar.
