Securing a foreign travel visa in this country is a complex process, creating a growing niche for Visa Processing Analysts—a profession with strong career prospects both in offices and as freelancers.

Halima Yesmin Mukta, a Visa Analyst at Wings Travels, says the role involves guiding clients through visa selection, documentation, application preparation, and interview preparation, while staying up-to-date on immigration rules.

Having a degree in tourism, international relations, or public administration is advantageous, though not strictly required. Essential qualifications for a Visa Processing Analyst include fluency in English, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a high level of discretion when handling sensitive client data. Proficiency with digital application systems and up-to-date knowledge of international travel regulations further strengthen a candidate's profile.

Visa Processing Analysts work in travel agencies, overseas education consultancies, immigration firms, and corporate HR departments. The rise of online travel agencies has further expanded opportunities, with many choosing to freelance or establish their own consultancy. The profession is considered especially suitable for women due to its flexibility, whether in an office-based or work-from-home setting.

In Bangladesh, entry-level salaries typically range from Tk 15,000 to Tk 25,000 per month, with experienced professionals earning Tk 50,000 to Tk 100,000 or more. International or agency roles can offer higher earnings.

Though travellers can apply independently, mistakes — such as incomplete documentation or incorrect categories — risk rejection. Skilled analysts mitigate these risks, save time, and open up travel opportunities, thereby indirectly boosting tourism revenue.

However, applicants should be wary of false guarantees: visa approval rests solely with the issuing authority. The work also has challenges — from keeping up with changing rules and managing sensitive client data to handling rejections and peak-season workloads.
