Uttara University holds financial and career literacy programme
Uttara University, in partnership with Prime Bank Academia, launched the Financial & Career Literacy Programme 2026 (Season 1) at its multipurpose hall on 9 April.
Supported by the Office of External Affairs and the Brand Communication Office, the programme is designed to equip students with crucial skills needed to succeed in today's rapidly changing global workforce.
The programme's main goal is to empower students with practical financial management and career development skills, enabling informed decisions and enhancing competitiveness in the global job market.
Prime Bank PLC's distinguished speakers included: Additional Managing Director and Head of Consumer & SME Banking, M Nazeem A Choudhury; Senior Executive Vice-President and Head of Liability & Women Banking, Shaila Abedin; and Senior Vice-President and Head of Financial Inclusion & School Banking, MM Mahbub Hasan.
Dean of the School of Business, Dr Ishrat Hossain, opened the event by welcoming guests and underscoring the critical importance of financial and career literacy for students.
Delivering the keynote, M Nazeem A Choudhury provided actionable career development strategies, stressing the necessity of skills such as data science, AI-driven learning, and communication to achieve the programme's goal of student empowerment and national progress.
Shaila Abedin shared her professional journey and discussed career growth, resilience, and work–life balance, especially for women in corporate roles. MM Mahbub Hasan discussed financial inclusion and the key role of school banking in building financial literacy.
Over 10 student groups presented posters with innovative, research-driven ideas. Registrar Kazi Mahiuddin attended as a special guest, joined by Associate Professor Dr Soeb Md Shoayeb Noman and other senior faculty.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr Ishrat Hossain, who expressed appreciation to the guests, participants, and organisers for their contributions to the programme's success.
