BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman to pick presidential candidate: Fakhrul

The BNP secretary general says the party’s standing committee has left the decision on the presidential election to its chairman.

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has been given the responsibility to choose the presidential candidate, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today (1 August).

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after a meeting of the party's standing committee at the BNP chairman's political office in the capital's Gulshan.

The meeting began at 8:00pm and ended at 9:30pm, with BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman in the chair.
