United Medical College Hospital marks Global Fatty Liver Day
United Medical College Hospital launched a public awareness campaign on 11 June 2026 to mark Global Fatty Liver Day at its facility on 100 Feet Madani Avenue, Dhaka.
The campaign brought together renowned artists to spotlight liver health through art, engaging the public.
Fatty liver disease is among the most prevalent global health concerns, yet awareness of its causes, complications, and prevention remains limited in Bangladesh.
United Medical College Hospital organised the initiative with six artists from across Bangladesh.
As part of the programme, the artists created and exhibited works that interpreted fatty liver disease and conveyed critical health messages in an accessible format.
A live art session ran from morning to evening on the hospital premises, ending with an exhibition of the completed pieces.
The event also included a CME session, educational activities, health screenings, and other initiatives to promote liver health and preventive care.
Ariful Hoque, AGM, Business Development at United Medical College Hospital, said, "Through this initiative, we aimed to connect art and healthcare. While doctors work to heal and improve lives, artists can capture attention, evoke emotions, and communicate important messages to society."
"By bringing these two disciplines together, we hope to raise awareness about fatty liver disease in an engaging and memorable way," he added.
The event was inaugurated by Mohammad Faizur Rahman, CEO of United Healthcare; Abu Raihan Al Beruni, CFBO of United Healthcare; Dr Azharul Islam Khan, Director, Medical Services; and other senior medical professionals.
