United Healthcare moves to strengthen clinical research
United Healthcare Services Limited has launched its first Institutional Ethical Review Board to strengthen research activities among physicians, clinicians and healthcare professionals.
The first meeting of the board was held on 5 May at United Medical College Hospital, the flagship hospital of United Healthcare, according to a press release.
The programme was inaugurated by United Group Chairman and Managing Director Moinuddin Hasan Rashid as the chief guest.
United Healthcare Managing Director Nizamuddin Hasan Rashid and United Medical College Hospital Chairman Professor Dr AQM Mohsen attended the event as special guests.
United Healthcare CEO Md Faizur Rahman delivered the vote of thanks.
United Healthcare Director of Medical Services Dr Azharul Islam Khan has been appointed chief adviser to the Institutional Ethical Review Board committee.
Professor Dr Khandaker Abu Talha will serve as chairman of the board, while Professor Dr Mahbubur Rahman has been appointed member-secretary.
The board also includes national and international experts from different medical and academic backgrounds.
Speaking at the event, Dr Azharul Islam Khan said, "With ethical research on one hand and thoughtful interventions on the other, we can engineer tangible health benefits."
During the inaugural meeting, three research proposals were submitted for ethical review and approval.
United Healthcare said the establishment of the board aims to encourage innovative clinical research, strengthen academic collaboration and contribute to improving healthcare standards in Bangladesh.
