Unilever consumer care wins ICSB corporate governance award
Unilever Consumer Care Limited (UCL) has won the Gold Award at the 12th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence 2024, marking the fourth consecutive year the company has received the top honour.
The award ceremony was held today at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, organised by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB).
The trophy and certificate were formally handed over by Sk Bashir Uddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh, who attended the programme as chief guest. The award was received on behalf of UCL by Mohammad Naharul Islam Molla, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, and S O M Rashedul Quayum, Non-Executive Director.
Lutfey Siddiqi, Special Envoy on International Affairs to the Chief Adviser, attended the event as guest of honour. Special guests included Dr Ahsan H Mansur, Governor of Bangladesh Bank; Dr Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Secretary of the Finance Division, Ministry of Finance; Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce; and Dr Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC).
The ICSB Corporate Governance Excellence Awards are determined through a rigorous evaluation process, with participating companies assessed by independent technical committees and the final selection approved by a jury board comprising local and international experts.
ICSB said the award recognises organisations that demonstrate strong corporate governance practices, particularly in transparency, accountability and ethical management.
Unilever Consumer Care Limited said the recognition reflects its continued commitment to maintaining high standards of corporate governance and responsible business practices in Bangladesh's corporate sector.
