BLF partners with IBC on workers’ rights
Bangladesh Labour Foundation and IndustriALL Bangladesh Council have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly promote labour rights, human rights, decent working conditions, just transition and human rights due diligence in key industrial sectors.
The MoU was signed on 16 May 2026, according to a press release.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will work together to strengthen gender-sensitive human rights due diligence processes in the ready-made garment, leather and footwear sectors. They will also enhance the capacity of worker representatives, carry out advocacy initiatives and support the improvement of labour standards.
The partnership will include training sessions, workshops and survey activities. The two sides will also collaborate on policy engagement and advocacy, raise awareness among workers, managers and trade union representatives at the factory level, and form a joint implementation committee to carry out the agreed activities.
Bangladesh Labour Foundation is a labour-rights-based organisation working to promote decent work, social justice, and sustainable development for workers in Bangladesh.
IndustriALL Bangladesh Council is the national platform of trade unions affiliated with IndustriALL Global Union and works for the rights and welfare of workers in the metal, chemical, energy, pharmaceutical, textile, garment, leather and footwear industries.
IBC will support the implementation of joint activities under BLF's ongoing and upcoming projects titled "Decent Work Due Diligence Bangladesh (DWDDB)" and "Transformation to an Inclusive and Accountable Garments Sector".
IBC President Kutubuddin Ahmed, General Secretary Babul Akhter, and IBC leaders Nazma Akhter, Rashedul Alam Raju, Salahuddin Shapon, Kamrul Hasan and Khadija Rahman were present at the signing ceremony.
Representing BLF were the Secretary General, Z M Kamrul Anam, and the Programme Director, Mohd. Raisul Islam Khan, among others.
The memorandum of understanding will remain effective for one year and may be reviewed or renewed in 2027. It was signed in both Bangla and English. In case of any confusion or discrepancy, the Bangla version will prevail.
