Popular content creator and actress Kaarina Kaisar has died while undergoing treatment in India due to liver-related complications.
Kaarina, 30, passed away last night (15 May) at a hospital in Chennai, where she had been taken for advanced medical treatment after her condition deteriorated in Dhaka, according to media reports.
Her father and former Bangladesh national football team player Kaiser Hamid told Prothom Alo that Kaarina's blood pressure dropped suddenly while doctors were administering antibiotics for her lungs.
"After that, the doctors tried their best. But in the end, she could not be saved," he said.
Kaarina was the granddaughter of renowned chess player Rani Hamid.
According to family sources, Kaarina initially developed a fever before doctors detected an infection in her body. Complications caused by hepatitis A and E later led to liver failure.
She was first admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka, where she was placed on life support.
She was later flown to India by air ambulance on Monday night and admitted to Christian Medical College Hospital in Vellore for advanced treatment.
Preparations for a liver transplant were reportedly underway.
Known widely for her engaging social media presence, Kaarina had recently become active in acting and scriptwriting. Her notable works include the productions "Internship" and "36-24-36".
Following news of her death, fans and colleagues expressed grief across social media platforms.
