Tianford signs lease with BEPZA to set up RMG unit at Uttara EPZ
Tianford Bangladesh Textile Co., Ltd, a China (Hong Kong)-based company, has signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a ready-made garments (RMG) manufacturing facility at Uttara EPZ.
The company will invest US$19.59 million and is expected to generate employment for 3,254 Bangladeshi nationals.
The agreement was signed today at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, signed on behalf of the authority, while Ge Zhenyu, Nominee Director of Tianford Bangladesh Textile Co., Ltd, signed for the company. BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, ndc, afwc, psc, G, MPhil, witnessed the signing ceremony.
According to BEPZA, the company will manufacture woven and knit garments, including bottoms, tops, shirts, jeans, jackets, T-shirts, polo shirts, sportswear, sweaters, hoodies, and jersey items, with an annual production capacity of seven million pieces. The facility will be constructed on 24,000 square metres of land. Products will be exported to markets including the United States, Canada, Japan, China, Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
Welcoming the investor, the BEPZA Executive Chairman said the authority will provide services and a business-friendly environment to support the project's implementation and operations. He also encouraged the company to explore sourcing quality raw materials locally, where feasible, to support domestic industries alongside export-oriented growth.
Ge Zhenyu said the company is satisfied with BEPZA's investor services and expressed confidence in Bangladesh as an investment destination. He stated that construction of the facility will commence in April 2026 and expressed hope that exports would begin from 2027.
The ceremony was attended by Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Engineering); A N M Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance); Samir Biswas, Executive Director (Administration); and A S M Anwar Parvez, Executive Director (Public Relations), along with senior BEPZA officials and representatives of Tianford Bangladesh Textile Co., Ltd.
