Sri Lanka tourism bureau holds B2B roadshow in Dhaka
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has hosted a B2B Roadshow and Networking Event in Dhaka, seeking to boost tourism collaboration between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The event, held at a city hotel, brought together stakeholders from both countries with the goal of deepening bilateral business ties in the tourism sector.
Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Tourism Board, Nuzhat Yasmin, attended as chief guest. She underscored the importance of regional cooperation, stating that the partnership could pave the way for sustainable tourism and enhanced cultural exchange.
Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dharmapala Weerakkody, noted that Sri Lanka's natural beauty and hospitality have long attracted Bangladeshi travellers.
Buddhika Hewasam, Chairman of the SLTPB, promoted Sri Lanka as a safe and diverse destination. He announced that special travel packages for Bangladeshi tourists and joint promotional initiatives with local operators are now underway.
Fawzan Fareid, Regional Manager of SriLankan Airlines, observed that improved air connectivity and competitive pricing have made travel more accessible.
Industry leaders, including Mohammad Rafeuzzaman, President of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), and Syed Golam Mohammad, President of the Bangladesh Outbound Tour Operators Association (BOATA), expressed keen interest in expanding outbound tourism to Sri Lanka.
During B2B sessions, representatives explored joint tour packages and market expansion strategies.
Other notable attendees included Khairul Bashar, Sales and Marketing Manager of FitsAir for Bangladesh, as well as other industry professionals.
The event concluded with a networking dinner.
The roadshow followed a media session on 5 April, reaffirming Sri Lanka's commitment to positioning itself as an affordable and attractive destination for Bangladeshi tourists.
