Science week concludes with awards and nationwide student participation
The 46th National Science and Technology Week concluded today with a vibrant closing ceremony, marking the end of a three-day celebration of scientific creativity and youth innovation.
Organised by the National Museum of Science and Technology, the event featured a diverse lineup of activities, including science project exhibitions, Olympiads, quizzes, science-themed dramas, and live science shows.
More than 700 students from all 64 districts who qualified through local-level competitions participated in the central round held at the National Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon. The event drew over 1,000 visitors, including students, young inventors, teachers, guardians, and science enthusiasts from across the country.
The closing and awards ceremony was graced by Md Mokabbir Hossain, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as chief guest and presided over by Abu Sayeed Md Kamruzzaman, NDC, Additional Secretary.
"Science and technology lie at the heart of modern life and global advancement," said Md Mokabbir Hossain. "Bangladesh's students are becoming increasingly confident and curious about science. With continued support and the right platforms, they can elevate the country to global recognition in innovation."
Dr Md Moniruzzaman, Director of the National Museum of Science and Technology, noted that the institution has been promoting science education nationwide since its founding in 1967. "Science weeks and fairs are now held annually at upazila, district, and divisional levels, engaging students and educators alike," he said.
This year's fair featured 180 stalls, displaying student-led innovations that drew widespread public attention.
The National Science and Technology Week served as a platform for young minds to demonstrate creativity and critical thinking, with organisers noting that such initiatives help foster a culture of innovation and support national development goals.
