Quizverse 2025 brings du halls into a battle of brilliance
The Economics Career Alliance (ECA) has concluded ECA Quizverse 2025, an intellectual competition that saw 105 teams compete across multiple rigorous rounds.
The event culminated in a grand finale blending academic challenge with inspirational guidance from distinguished guests.
The contest began with a semi-final, quiz-mastered by Sadman Mujtaba Rafid, President of the Dhaka University Quiz Society. Twenty teams from twenty halls of the University of Dhaka took part, answering questions across science, history, art, and global culture. The round drew considerable online engagement under the hashtag #ECAQuizverse2025.
The grand finale opened with the six highest-scoring teams competing in an initial buzzer round moderated by Md Sadat Anowar, Research Analyst at IFPRI. The round tested identification, logic, puzzles, and general knowledge, setting a high-stakes tone.
After the first round, the programme paused for keynote speeches. Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, praised the hall-based format for its inclusivity and its ability to engage students with limited prior club experience. She encouraged participants to pursue skill-building opportunities and urged the ECA to continue fostering collaborative, horizon-expanding initiatives.
Special guest Md Masuduzzaman, Chief Marketing Director of Jamuna Paper Mills, shared an industry perspective, emphasising the need for innovative thinking and practical value from academic institutions. "We need new ideas and concepts from the young generation," he said. A ceremonial crest exchange followed to honour the guests, organisers, and quizmasters.
The competition resumed with a second and final round led by quizmaster Nasif Tanjim, a journalist at The Business Standard. With his analytical approach, he guided participants through challenging questions on sports, philosophy, anime, historical wars, and probability.
After a close contest, the winners of ECA Quizverse 2025 were announced. The championship title went to Polashir Morer Fried Chicken, followed by team ATHA as first runners-up, and team DeltaWye as second runners-up. ECA congratulated all winning teams for their strong performances.
ECA expressed gratitude to sponsors Jamuna Paper Mills and Roopkatha for their support in making the event a success.
