ADB, Shakti Foundation partner to support 50,000 girls and young women
Shakti Foundation has signed a landmark agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to strengthen education financing for adolescent girls and young women across Bangladesh.
Through the partnership, Shakti will support at least fifty thousand girls and young women to continue their education and develop skills for gainful employment through tailored education finance solutions.
As part of the initiative, Shakti Foundation will collaborate with Microsave Consulting (MSC), which will provide technical assistance and jointly design inclusive, gender-responsive education finance products aimed at young women.
The initiative forms a key component of ADB's broader regional commitment to promoting economic growth, reducing poverty, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project spans Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with the collective goal of supporting three hundred thousand girls by improving access to education and skills development.
Imran Ahmed, Deputy Executive Director of Shakti Foundation, said: "We are delighted to partner with ADB and MSC on this groundbreaking initiative. Shakti has been committed to empowering over 550,000 women across 57 districts in Bangladesh. We believe the outcomes of this project will not only open new frontiers for young women but also contribute to reducing child marriage and increasing women's participation in the labour force in Bangladesh."
