Brac Bank launches mastercard platinum multicurrency debit card
BRAC Bank has launched a new Platinum Multicurrency Debit Card on the Mastercard network, offering customers a convenient and secure way to manage both local and international transactions.
Officially unveiled on 23 November 2025, the card combines flexibility, safety, and rewarding features in one seamless payment solution. It can be used in any currency across Mastercard's global acceptance network, ensuring smooth travel, shopping, and payments abroad. BRAC Bank is the only bank in Bangladesh offering a rewards programme for debit card spending at home and overseas, making everyday purchases more rewarding.
The bank also introduced the Mastercard Platinum Multicurrency TARA Debit Card—designed exclusively for women—which offers TARA cardholders double reward points on all transactions made on Tuesdays.
Equipped with NFC-enabled contactless technology, an EMV chip, and two-factor authentication, the card provides a secure and frictionless payment experience. Cardholders can also access special offers at more than 9,500 Mastercard partner merchants, along with premium benefits through Mastercard's Priceless Specials platform.
Cardholders may use the new debit card to subscribe to Netflix, Spotify, and Amazon Prime, and to boost posts on social media platforms.
Fully integrated with BRAC Bank's Astha app, the multicurrency card supports QR code cash withdrawals at ATMs, QR-based payments, and full card control via the app. Customers can also enjoy exclusive worldwide discounts at partner merchants.
Speaking at the launch, Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BRAC Bank, said: "The Mastercard Platinum Multicurrency Debit Card reflects BRAC Bank's focus on innovation and customer convenience. It brings together everyday usability, global access, and secure technology—empowering customers to manage their finances confidently, wherever they are."
Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of Mastercard Bangladesh, said: "As Bangladesh accelerates its journey towards a cashless economy, Mastercard is committed to driving this transformation through strategic collaborations and innovative solutions. This new card is designed to empower customers with greater flexibility, enhanced security, and access to exclusive local and global benefits."
The launch ceremony was attended by Gautam Aggarwal, President, South Asia, Mastercard; Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of Mastercard Bangladesh; Md Mahiul Islam, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail Banking at BRAC Bank; and senior officials from the bank.
The launch of the new debit card reaffirms BRAC Bank's commitment to offering secure, convenient, and forward-looking banking solutions to its customers.
