Nagad makes zakat, charity payments easier in Ramadan
Nagad and Nagad Islamic are offering customers a convenient way to pay Zakat and make charitable donations through more than 50 organisations engaged in humanitarian work.
Users of the Nagad and Nagad Islamic apps, as well as basic phone users dialling *167#, are sending Zakat and financial assistance to listed institutions every day. During Ramadan, both the number and volume of Zakat and donation transactions have increased markedly, as people seek greater spiritual reward through charity while fulfilling their obligatory Zakat.
Customers can also calculate their Zakat through the Nagad and Nagad Islamic apps and websites by entering details of their annual income, investments, gold, debts and assets.
Smartphone users can make Zakat payments or donations by selecting the "Donation" option in the app. Organisations listed on the platforms include Al-Markazul Islami, Anjuman Mufidul Islam, As-Sunnah Foundation, Center for Zakat Management, Tasauf Foundation, Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation, KK Foundation, Mastul Foundation, Quantum Foundation, Sajida Foundation, Obhizatrik Foundation, Mymensingh Medical College Zakat Fund, Kurmitola General Hospital Patient Welfare Association Zakat Fund, and Muslim Aid UK Bangladesh Field Office.
Professor Dr HM Shahidul Islam Barakati, chairman of the Nagad Islamic Shariah Supervisory Committee, said, "Zakat is the foremost obligatory act of financial worship, and Ramadan is the best time to pay it. This is an important opportunity to stand beside poor and helpless people through Zakat payments made via Nagad and Nagad Islamic."
He added, "Many people intend to pay Zakat, but often fail to do so properly because of limited time and opportunity. Similarly, those who want to provide other forms of financial assistance often face difficulty in deciding whom to give to and how to send it. Through Nagad and Nagad Islamic, people can send Zakat and donations to organisations that genuinely work for the welfare of people."
Nagad Islamic has become a preferred platform for customers seeking mobile financial services in line with Islamic principles. During Ramadan, it also offers services including Hajj and Umrah travel payments, Islamic life insurance premium payments, prayer and fasting schedules, and access to the Quran and Hadith with Bangla translation.
